Well, not really. I’ve had a blog for years and years at TimChilders.com. I used it while I was in education. When I made the decision to change it over to SquareSpace and re-birth it as my photography blog, I downloaded all the posts for the previous 10 years thinking I might compile some of them into a small book of sorts.
That file still sits in my Google Drive folder three years later. #Sigh.
It was a bit different than I imagined when I downloaded it. It did not download as a straight text file. Rather, it is embedded with all the html code that makes up the basic post.
Here is a just a small snippet of what I’m dealing with:

<div class="entry">Originally posted May 19, 2008 We are in our last week of classes. Whew! The year has flown by, but last week and this week have been two v-e-r-y long weeks. We are in the midst of the annual struggle between teachers who are desperately trying to finish up lesson plans, get in lastminute grades, and keep order and sanity in the classroom; and students who are struggling with acute spring fever, don’t see the point in working, and generally want to spend the day goofing off….
So, every post is filled with this kind of html coding. But on my way to Panera this morning to actually write this post, I may have come up with a way to quickly eliminate that code throughout ten years of writing. If it works, there’s a totally new blog post coming!
Anyway, I’m moving my photography blog from SquareSpace (where I’ve spent a lot of money over the last three years with absolutely nothing to show for it) to right here on Substack. In fact, the first post went live yesterday.
If you are interested, you can find it here: TimChildersPhoto.
This blog will continue to post every Wednesday as a general “what’s on my mind” kind of thing. And on Tuesdays, I will post to the photography blog. I’d love for you to subscribe!
Hi Tim, keep up the great work! I'm enjoying your posts. Thank you 👍😊
Howdy, Tim. I did subscribe to you Substack but have not contributed $$$ there as of yet. I appreciate you keeping the Ko-Fi option to buy you a cup of coffee from time to time. The Substack option is a bit of a pricey commitment for this retiree. As you said, you are looking for ways to save money; I'm all for that. Recently, I reviewed my online subscriptions; they had crept up to nearly $175 a month for no good reason. Within an afternoon, I cut that in half. Congratulations on your new and/or improved blog.
